Ask a question of the mentors

Email your question here...

What is Ask the Mentors?
The mentors are a group of volunteers who are in the MT field or QA field (or some other medical-related field) who have offered their services to anyone who has a question. If you have a question you would like an answer to quicker than QA or an MT forum might be able to help then you're in luck because the mentors are here to help.

We have a number of transcriptionists and QA people, most of whom are very, very experienced, who are willing to help their fellow MTs out. If you have a question about a word, a drug, a general question about the job of medical transcription, office setup, how to do this or that, basically anything and everything that has to do with MT, please email me your question (or click the pic above) and I will pass it along to the wonderful volunteers in our group.

If someone has an answer to your question they will email you back or will email me and I'll pass the answer on to you. I can't guarantee you will get an answer every time (0r even that it will be the 100% right answer), but most of the time we will try hard to get your questioned answered correctly and in a timely manner.

Who can ask a question?
That's easy, anyone. Whether you're a newbie or have been around for years and years, if you have a question you'd like help with go ahead and ask. We all have questions occasionally and it's nice to know there are those who are willing to help us out.

If you're not a medical transcriptionist but would like to ask a question because you're interested in the field, then go ahead and ask your question and I'm sure someone would be more than happy to answer your question.

Can I keep my question confidential?
If you're embarrassed because you feel it's a dumb question (even though in my book there's no dumb question except the one you don't ask) then that's cool, just put in your email that you'd rather no one else (besides me) to know your email and I will just send your question out and have the MTs who respond email me back rather than emailing you directly. Just be sure to tell me you'd rather your email be kept secret.

Does it cost?
Nope, it's completely free so ask away.

Can I become a volunteer mentor?
Absolutely, we'd be happy to have you. There really aren't any requirements other than you be in the medical field in some way, shape or form, whether you're an MT, a QA person, a company owner, a doctor (hey, never know, it might happen), a nurse, whatever, come join us and help some others out.

If I volunteer, do I have to answer every question?
Nope, this is really just a volunteer thing and if you find you don't know an answer or you don't have time or whatever, then just delete the email or keep it and answer the question later when you have a minute or two.

If you find that you really don't like being a mentor, then just email me and let me know and I'll take your name off the email list.

What hours can I expect an answer to my email?
I work from 5 am mountain standard time until noon, but am on the computer pretty much all day on my various blogs so pretty much anywhere from 5 am MST to about 10 pm you can get a hold of me during the week. On the weekends the hours will vary due to them being my days off. I'm not sure what hours the volunteers will answer emails so sometimes during the day you may get an email response quicker than at other times, it just depends totally on our wonderful volunteers.

So that's about it, if you'd like to volunteer or ask a question then just email me.
